This year our Governing Board met for their summer meeting in Munich. World Cup spirit was in the air, but whilst football unites nations, our focus is uniting GI endoscopists across Europe and beyond.
🌍 14 countries were represented, with a special focus on education. We welcomed new teammates to the squad, refined our game plan, aligned on our strategic goals, and mapped out the tactics that will help us score even greater successes in the years ahead.

Meet one of the ESGE Social Media Working Group members: Elena Manthopoulou ⭐
🏥 Institution:
Gastroenterology Department, General Hospital of Nea Ionia – Konstantopouleio‑Patision, Athens, Greece
Elena (or officially Eleni, in Greek) is a gastroenterologist with a strong focus on pancreatobiliary endoscopy, especially ERCP and EUS.
She has a special interest in advanced endoscopy and pancreatobiliary diseases, and she also serves as the Coordinator of the Equality and Diversity Group of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology, promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, and physician wellbeing—particularly around ergonomics in endoscopy.
Beyond the endoscopy suite, what's Elena's dream vacation? 🏖 Diving in the Maldives — first diving certification done, next level loading.
