🧠 Ergonomics in endoscopy is no longer optional. Musculoskeletal injury affects performance, longevity, and workforce sustainability for both endoscopists and endoscopy nurses. ESGE is increasingly placing this topic front and center, and for good reason.

📊 At ESGE Days 2025, an international multicenter survey (162 respondents from 21 countries) highlighted the scale of the problem: • 68% of endoscopists and 86% of endoscopy nurses reported musculoskeletal symptoms or endoscopy-related injury • Pain most commonly involved the lower back, neck, and right hand/wrist • 21% modified their practice or reduced procedures • Yet only 10.5% reported formal ergonomics education

Risk factors included gender, experience level, procedure volume, and role. The message was clear: injury is common, education is not.

📅 ESGE Webinar — January 21, 2026 | 19:00 CET “Ergonomics in Endoscopy: Optimizing Performance and Reducing Injury”

Moderated by Prof. Marianna Arvanitakis with Dr Fabiana Benjaminov and Dr Sandra Nagl, this interactive session will cover posture, scope handling, equipment setup, ergonomic assessment tools, and practical strategies to reduce injury, followed by live Q&A.
