❗ Here's lead author Roos Pouw; “We know that early cancer and neoplasia in the esophagus are easily missed, whereas the prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer depends strongly on the stage at which the disease is diagnosed. Everyone doing gastroscopy therefore has the possibility to improve patient outcomes for the better, by adhering to quality standards and training themselves in recognizing early esophageal cancer and pre-cursor lesions even in asymptomatic patients.”

This Quality Improvement Initiative provides a standardization of the upper GI endoscopy report to increase the reproducibility of endoscopy reports and improve the quality of upper GI endoscopy through the use of standardized classifications."
